Pearl barley is barley grains that have been peeled and polished from the outer shell. Unlike traditional barley grains, they are much smaller, lighter and quicker to cook. Barley is one of the oldest grains grown in the Latvian region and has traditionally been the main source of carbohydrates in our diet.
Pearl barley is rich in fiber, carbohydrates, and minerals, and contains almost all the biologically active nutrients needed by the human body. It is an excellent source of fiber, containing about ten times more fiber per serving than rice.
