When was the last time you had your first time? Perhaps it is this openly challenging question that encourages us to go into the seductive primal nature that is still found in the Andes Mountains. Seven expeditions in South America, eight truly emotional and beautifully illustrated experience stories about thirty-nine mountains, including the nine highest peaks on this continent - all about it in the book. Chile, Argentina and Peru, the Andes Mountains in different regions: both in the Atacama Highlands, and in Patagonia, and in the miraculous Cordillera Blanca Mountains, which are undoubtedly one of the most uniquely beautiful mountains in the world.
The stories depict our first steps in high-altitude expeditions, where we gained new experience, lessons and revelations about a special type of mountain climbing – Andeanism. The experience gained is even more vivid because we tried to do almost everything on our own, climbing most peaks in pairs in the so-called Alpine style. Our stories trace the path of development, both climbing high-altitude peaks close to seven kilometers high, and venturing into the unknown on technically difficult and dangerous climbs.
This is our second mountain experience book. The first one – “PAMIRS mana sirds mīlestība”, published in 2021 – received an unexpectedly wide response from Latvian readers: in it we told not only about mountaineering, but also about searches, growth, overcoming fears and love. Many years ago, when we got married, we promised each other to continue experiencing first times together. This is reflected in our expeditions. In the book, balancing with us on the edge of existence, anyone who is hungry for adventures and knowledge of the world will be able to go into the unexplored world.
